Load control and pilot operation

HBS excavator valves are designed so that the pilot pressure depends only on the spring preload and piston area, without the influence of differential areas. This results in consistent valve behaviour under varying load conditions.

The pilot pressure is normally supplied by the manipulator pressure that also controls the main spool valve, ensuring coordinated operation between operator input and hydraulic response.

Valve design and pressure protection

HBS valves for excavators combine several functional elements within a compact design:

• Check valve to prevent unwanted reverse flow

• Pilot piston to control opening and closing behaviour

• Integrated relief valve to limit overload peaks

The auxiliary relief function protects the hydraulic system against excessive pressure, reducing wear on cylinders, hoses and seals.

The sealing plunger is piloted by pressure released through the relief valve, making valve operation independent of back pressure in the V2 line. For correct operation, the tank line (T) must always be connected directly to the reservoir without back pressure.

Safety and manual lowering capability

To ensure operational safety, HBS excavator valves include features that support controlled load handling in abnormal situations:

• Manual pilot screw for emergency lowering

• Controlled load descent in case of manipulator failure

• Safe operation without reliance on the main control system
